Bulldozer frequency reaches record

To keep us active interest despite the repeated delays "enjoyed" Bulldozer architecture, AMD has decided to show us how well they overclock these processors enter it. And a FX-8150 (3.6 GHz Zambezi octa core with 4.2 GHz and TDP TurboCore 125 W), Sami Maekinen, Brian McLachlan, Pete Hardman and Aaron broke the previous record had Schradin (Guinness).

They have reached an impressive 8.43 GHz frequency, raising to 272 MHz bus, the 31x multiplier and voltage to 2016 V. And it was needed initially cooled liquid nitrogen, then was switched to liquid helium.

Performance was achieved on an Asus Crosshair Formula V, which has been mounted Corsair Dominator DDR3 module GT 2 GB, set to 1813 MHz with latent 22-2-16-2, and a Radeon HD 6570 . But after all the praise go remains to be seen and some less happy aspects.

The OC has reached only two of the eight core components of the CPU (dual core module). And be held as validated by CPU-Z. AMD still ensure that more than 5 GHz frequencies will be possible with conventional cooling and Zambezi (cooler air).

The previous record was 8.31 GHz overclock on an Intel Pentium 4 Cedar Mill on 65 nm core (single core than five years old), only a month ago. AMD and the best such result was 7.38 GHz, with a Phenom X4 II 955 BE (3.2 GHz quad-core Deneb).
